70´s Disco Night - Saturday 11th March
Another successful event saw members embrace the 70´s in style and even the food on the night. A simple "How well do you know the 70´s" quiz gave everyone a chance for their food to settle before the dancing started which saw winners Jason Bishop and Sue Sharkey collect a bottle of Babycham!
Following on from this years Welcome in the New Year Party at the end of January the club put on a dinner on Friday 10th February. The event was a sell out and we have had nothing but good comments back for the food an service on the night. Please look out for similar dinner based events coming up in the near future.
You can see some photos of the recent event below.

Barn Dance - Saturday 29th October
Everyone turned up looking ready for some serious barn dancing with check shirts, jeans and cowboy hats and there was plenty of dancing going on. The dance floor was full all night and most people managed to pick up the steps although not necessarily in the right order or all at the same time. The end result was a great evenings fun with more laughter being had than any top line comedian could have achieved. Another very well supported event and one that we may well return to in the future.
Summer Disco and BBQ - Saturday 13th August - How it went.
The summer disco with it´s Hawaiian theme proved to be very popular and a great night was had by all who attended. People dressed for the occasion in multi coloured shirts, grass skirts and floral decorations. The bar took on a beach bar look and the barbecue and buffet went down a treat and the dance floor was full most of the night. A great night for everyone and the club and something that could be repeated next year. Please see the slideshow below for a flavour of the night.
Don't upset our bar and catering manager!
(More photos just added 12th May)
On Saturday we had a first at the golf club with a murder mystery evening which saw a number of members take part in a production that certainly was different. One of the highlights of the night was Mick Ponds character (Hiram Cheap) being discovered murdered when the screens went back and one scene involving his head being repeatedly smashed into his desk proved to be particularly popular. A Charleston dance routine performed by our version of the Dolly Sisters, Anne Wallhead and Hilary Calvert got things off to start that set the tone for what was to come. With a victim who was shot, stabbed, bludgeoned and poisoned and a whole host of suspects it could have been anyone, but when all was said and done the Barman (Al Fresco) our own Nick Borrell proved to be pretty handy with a knife which turned out to be the cause of death. The audience played their part too, dressing for the occasion and making all the right noises at all the right times which was more than can be said for some of the actors.
At the end of the day people seemed to enjoy themselves including those who acted out their parts with enthusiasm and all showed what good sports they were.
A night that will probably be remembered that's for sure and for a host of reasons. A big thank you to everyone who took part and for those who supported the event and sorry to those who missed out on tickets. Take a look at some of the action from the night.
Keep an eye out for our next production!
