Rare bird sighted on the Practice Field! On Friday the practice field saw it´s first Helicopter landing. Unfortunately it´s arrival coincided with a torrential downpour but this did not cause the pilot any problems as he landed safely to allow his passenger to get on with his business in nearby Sibsey. The pilot managed to dry out whilst having a drink and snack in the clubhouse before taking off with his passenger in brilliant sunshine.
Although we are not quite ready to paint a large "H" on the practice field we would certainly be happy to accommodate any requests for helicopter landings in the future!
Take a look at what´s been going on this year at Boston Golf Club.

Sports Day in the Park 18th August 2017
On Friday 18th August Boston Golf Club supported the local councils Family Sports day event in the park aimed at getting children interested in sport.
The day was well supported and on the Boston Golf Club stand around 70 boys and girls had a go at putting and chipping and each one received a sweet reward.
Some of the mothers seemed very keen to take details of the coaching sessions held on a Saturday at the club for youngsters and we hope we may well see some new faces in the future.
Many thanks to our own Junior Trevor Emberton who helped out on the day, along with Lady Vice Captain Janet Read and Carol Francis.

The fountain in the pond on the 18th hole is now back in working order. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped with this work and to President Pete Pearson who has donated 50 carp for the pond.

On the Saturday morning they played the back nine scoring 23 points, putting them 3rd overall. The top four pairs qualifying for the semi finals.
The format then changed to match play and the pair played a pair from Ireland over the front nine. Steve and James won 2 up.
The final was played over the back nine and yet again they played another Irish pair. After a very tight match Steve and James lost on the last hole. Even so this was a great achievement for the father and son pair.

Rabbits Win 53rd Nelson Cup
On Sunday 26th June Boston Golf Club hosted the 53rd Nelson Cup and welcomed teams from North Shore and Seacoft.
The Boston Team proved too strong for the visiting teams and despite having to give both away teams 6 shots from their total score they finished clear winners beating closest second placed team North Shore by 28 shots who won the cup last year.
Special mention should go to Eddie Markham who shot the best score of the day when he returned a very impressive net 67.
