Macmillan Lady Captain v Gents Captains Team - 29th September 2017
Another good result for this annual event which is played in conjunction with the coffee morning. Despite a poor weather forecast the match was played in full without any sign of rain. With 34 entrants it meant a singles match started things off with 8 pairs following on. t one stage it looked like being a whitewash in favour of new Lady Captain Janet Reads team. A good finish by the Gents Captains last three pairs did make things interesting but it was a win for the Lady Captain 25 to 23 holes won.
The cakes and the raffle were very well supported and the final total reached this year for Macmillan was £942.65 so another great event for the charity.
Macmillan Am Am - Thursday 21st September
'I am delighted to say the above event raised the wonderful sum of £2464 despite fewer teams entering.
Thankfully the rain held off until about 4pm. Despite the change in the weather 5 out of 6 winning teams had to play in some of the worst of the weather.

Macmillan Coffee Morning and Match
18th September 2015
On Friday 18th September we were blessed with very good weather and a great turn out for the coffee morning and match between teams representing the Lady Captain and Men's Captain.
10 pairs on each side did battle but it was a pretty one sided affair with Tony Miller leading his team to a
7 1/2 to 2 1/2 victory. Dave and Anne Sutton won the prize for the best scoring pair of the day with their win over Yvonne and Martin Schaffarczyk and Tony Miller and Yvonne Wright took the second prize with a 4 & 2 victory over Hilary and Fred Calvert. There were also nearest the pin prizes and a tremendous selection of raffle prizes which had been donated from sponsors and members.
The cakes went literally like hot cakes with very few left at the end of the day and the volunteer ladies did a great job doing everything from selling cakes and raffle tickets, making hot drinks and registering the players on arrival.
The real, winner on the day was however Macmillan as we raised £ 1,010.00 which represents another great result for what is now a wonderful annual event. Thanks to all the ladies and men who took part in the match and those who made donations and supported the coffee morning and all the sponsors who made donations and helped produce such a vast raffle table.
If you missed out this year then put it in your diary for next year.
