Wednesday 21st, In teams of three, Ladies played a Pink Ball Competition a stableford format over 18 holes with the pink ball scoring double taken in turn by each player consecutively on each hole plus one other players score.
The winning team were Janet Read, Lynn Worthington and Anita Pritchard with a score of 91 stableford points, The runners up were Lady Captain Pam Clare, Jane Cowen and Chris Needham with 85 points. The Photo shows the winning team with Lady Captain. |
Sunday 4th August it was the Lady President Ann Hodgson's afternoon. The format a Singles Stableford.
28 Boston Ladies turned out with her invited guests, all enjoyed refreshments half way round with a two course meal after play. The winner overall for the President's Tray was Ann Gullick with 37 stableford points, The photo is of Ann Gullick being presented with the trophy by Lady President Ann Hodgson. Division 1 (silver) Ruth Simpson with 35 points, runner up Yvonne Shaffarczyk with 34 points. Division 2 (Bronze) Kate Price with 33 points, runner up Jane Bratley with 32 points. Division 3 (Bronze) Pam King with 32 points, runner up Janet Read with 30 points. The best front nine was won by Jacquie Short, and best back nine went to Jean Markham. Nearest pin for silver players was won by Ruth Simpson on the 14th hole, Nearest pin in two on the 7th hole went to guest Julia West. The two's competition was won by Yvonne Wright on the 14th hole. Wednesday 7th, The ladies held a stableford competition with Pat Couture the winner with a score of 34 points. in second place with 32 points Pam King on a countback from Yvonne Shaffarczyk also 32 pts. |
On Monday the Ladies League team travelled to Belton Woods where they finished with a good result with the match being halved.
Wednesday it was the turn of the ladies to play for the title of Ladies' Club Champion. Playing over 27 holes eight of the ladies took this on with the previous Champion Ruth Simpson once again showing her supremacy winning the trophy with 84 - 43 =127 gross. with Pam Hyde taking the runner up gross prize with 97 - 51 = 148. Jacquie Short won the Ann Hodgson Vase for best net with 78 - 39 = 117. The photo shows Jacquie Short with the Ann Hodgson Vase for best Net. Lady Captain Pam Clare and Champion Ruth Simpson with the Championship Salver for Best Gross. Also several teams of three followed them playing an 18 hole TriAm with Ann Gullick, Lady Captain Pam Clare and Maureen Molson coming in with 69 stableford Points. The runners up were a two ball with a ghost scorer > Di Lincoln, Pat Couture and Ghost Ann gullick with 66 points. There was also a nine hole competition and this was won by Gloria Tryner, Jean Flynn and ghost Liz Harris. |
Tuesday 2nd July The Ladies of Boston golf Club held the Nora Royle Cup Competition a competition held yearly in memory of Nora Royle a very keen medal player who provided a silver cup to the Ladies section for ladies over 60, play was always proceeded with tea and cakes and the tradition is kept to this day, 15 Ladies turned out.
The winner today was Lady Captain Pam Clare with a net score 70 with a reduction to her handicap. The runner up was Pam King with a net score of 74. The twos competition was won by Hilary Calvert on the 14th hole. The photo shows 'Lady Captain', 'Pam Clare', being presented with the cup from 'Vice Captain Ruth Simpson'. |

Wednesday 26th June.
Lady Captain Pam Clare took '24 Boston Ladies' to her chosen away day at 'Laceby Manor Golf Club'. The day started with coffee/Tea and Bacon Baps followed by golf with six teams of 4 playing, and two scoring on every hole,The day was finished off with a meal and afterwards the winners were presented with their prizes. The winning team was Jean Markham, Maureen Molson, Ann Gullick and Lynn Worthington, in second place were Pam Bett, "Lady Captain" Pam Clare, Chris Needham and "Lady President" Ann Hodgson. Friday 28th June A good win for the Boston Ladies league team who played their match at home against Blankney with Boston winning 3 and 1. |
Australian Spoons
After the torrential rain prior to Wednesday only a small field of ladies set out to play in the Australian Spoons. This competition held all over the Country with the winning pair from each Club going on to the area finals. In unfavourable conditions, the winning pair were, Ann Gullick and, Jacquie Short with 33 Stableford Points. The runners up were, Lady Captain Pam Clare who's playing partner was Maureen Molson. |
Dunhill Islands Trophy
Today 15th May 20 Ladies Turned out for the Dunhill Islands Trophy competition, a singles stableford with full Handicap allowance, what seemed a perfect day for golf turned out to be just that for the winner Chris Sherriff who returned a score of 35 stableford points taking home the Dunhill Islands Trophy.
The runner up was Lady Captain Pam Clare with a score of 33 points and in third place Jacquie Short with 32 points. There were 2 twos recorded Anne Wallhead on the 5th Hole and Jane Marriott on the 14th hole. The photo is of Lady Captain Pam Clare handing over the trophy to Chris Sherriff. |
Wednesday 1st May 10 Lady past Captains entered the Past Captains' Trophy competition a medal format.
The winner was Pam Hyde with a score 86-17=69 net. retaining her title from last year, her handicap being reduced from 17 down to 15, in second position was Margaret Hardy 105-27=78 net. The nine hole competition was won by Lynn Worthington with 18 stableford points and the runner up was Anita Pritchard with 17 stableford points. Thursday the League match was played away at Torksey with Boston losing 3-1/2 to 1/2. Friday a friendly match at home against Louth was held with Boston winning 3-1/2 to 1/2 this match was shortened to 12 holes because of inclement weather conditions. |
