Reasons to Join Boston Golf Club
The English Club Golfer magazine argued that with signs of an improving economy and golf clubs becoming more aware of the need to meet the demands of the current market that now was probably one of the best times to consider golf club membership.
They went on in some detail to state 10 good reasons to join a Golf Club and we are delighted to say that Boston Golf Club ticks everyone of their boxes and more.
1. ACCESS TO PRACTICE FACILITIES
At Boston we more than meet this requirement with a driving range which offers a covered facility if required, range balls and the option to even use your own balls if you are prepared to go and retrieve then when you are finished.
A dedicated chipping green with numerous holes and bunkers to really work on short game.
A lovely putting green conveniently situated next to the first tee so you can really be prepared for the round ahead.
2.GET A HANDICAP
You will have plenty of opportunities to obtain a handicap if you are new to the game or maintain an existing one with regular competitions and assessment of your general play. Our website provides all members with access to their handicap details including a breakdown or all their performances whether it be hole by hole or round by round.
3. THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY SOME COMPETITIVE GOLF
Boston has competitions every Sunday, covering singles, pairs and 4 ball team events. There is a winter pairs league which provides a pair with the opportunity to compete in 5 different formats from October to March.
The Ladies, Seniors and Rabbits section all have regular competitions throughout the year together with matches against other clubs and knock outs.
There are two men´s teams A and B who compete against other clubs and a junior team.
There are monthly AM/AM events for teams of 4 to compete, together with various Opens and charity events.
We also have a C team/Rabbits Team who play many matches home and away throughout the year and they hold their own club competitions, all you need is a handicap of 16 or above to join in.
In addition to the Official Competitions Boston has a number of casual societies within the club who meet every week offering even more opportunities to compete against other members albeit at a more relaxed level throughout the week and weekends.
4. GREAT SOCIAL SCENE
Because of the welcoming nature of the club and the atmosphere that comes from such a friendly environment the social scene is very much a part of the clubs appeal.
The social committee works hard to stage events throughout the year including Quiz nights, themed evenings with dancing, a formal Captains Ball for those who like to dust off their evening wear and of course Christmas and New Year are not forgotten. Other clubhouse events take place throughout the year including a Macmillan Coffee Morning, and various ad hoc functions.
Members are also encouraged to make use of the club house for their own functions whether it be a special birthday or anniversary where the facility is provided at no charge with just drinks and catering having to be paid for.
5.FLEXIBLE WAYS TO PAY
At Boston Golf Club we make it as easy to pay your annual fee as possible. For a start there is no joining fee just your annual green fee which can be paid in cash, cheque, card or direct debit.
6.PLAY IN OPEN COMPETITIONS
Open competitions are held in clubs all over the country and as a member of an England Golf registered club with a handicap you can take part in these competitions. The really good news is that Boston Golf Club holds a number of these competitions themselves and as a member taking part you will get to enter at a discounted rate.
Typically our winter AM/AM competitions are £12.50 to enter for visitors but as a member the fee is just £5.00.
7.RANGE OF MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS
We offer a number of different rates depending on what type of membership you want full 7 day, 5 day, junior and where you live and how old you also has a bearing on the rate you may pay.
We also offer special offers over the winter for those who want to try out the club first before deciding if it really is for them. Many people have tried this option and the majority of them are still here.
8.PLAY WHEN YOU WANT TO PLAY
With no tee time booking system as a member you can just turn up an play when you want. Of course there will be times when tees are booked for competitions, societies and the in house groups who play regularly but if you do just want to do your own thing then they will be plenty of opportunities to do so especially as a quick word with the pro will probably give you the opportunity to start on another tee if the first is busy.
As mentioned previously we have a number of opportunities to play social golf wth a number of groups within the club so just decide when you would like to play and then come along and have a game with any of the midweek groups or Saturday society.
As a member of Boston Golf Club you can take advantage of our agreement with Middleton Hall Golf Club near Kings Lynn where you can play for free just by asking the Pro to make the arrangement for you and 3 of your friends.
We also have a reciprocal arrangement with Market Rasen and Louth Golf Club where you can play for a reduced green fee of £12.00. Play is subject to availability and pre booking is required.
A new reiprocal arrangement has now been agreed with Melton Mowbray allowing up to 8 Boston members at a time to book a round of golf for just £15.00 throughout the week. Pre booking with their Professional will be required
10.ACCESS TO A PGA PROFESSIONAL
At Boston we have two friendly and accommodating professionals who can help you improve your game.
And for the junior golfer we really can offer a lot in the form of our Pro Nick Hiom who is currently an under 18,16,14,12 County Coach. During his 20 year PGA Professional career Nick has coached three National Junior Champions and 2008 Junior World Champion Billy Spooner.
11. BAR CARD LOYALTY SCHEME
You can have your own Bar Card which allows you to make your food and drink purchases and qualify for a 10% discount which is is deducted from your renewl fee the following year
12. INTRODUCE A NEW MEMBER
If you introduce a new member who rejoins for a full year you will receive a £50 bonus payment from the club.
As Boston is a members club it means any member can more involved in how it is run if they want to. We have a committee if you are interested in a more formal role which is subject to election at our AGM and we have volunteers who offer their time or skills around the club and on the course. Getting involved is a great way to see how things are run and make new friends.
14.SPONSOR A TEE
