A MESSAGE FROM THIS YEARS SENIORS CAPTAIN
Boston GC Seniors is a recognised section within the golf club for the over 55’s and runs its own matters under the auspices of Boston Golf Club. This year’s Seniors Captain is myself, Stuart Haywood and I would like to welcome any new members to the section and invite them to the Tuesday morning roll ups which run throughout the year except for Christmas and New Year. These roll ups commence at 8.15 with a draw for selecting teams for that particular morning, where we play a variety of golfing formulas with a tee off time from 8.30 onwards.
It is very relaxed but still quite competitive, scoring contributing to a number of competitions which are run throughout the year and there are a number of mornings when Medal and Stapleford rounds are played which also contribute to golf handicaps.
The Seniors also have a team which play a number of “friendly” matches throughout the year on many golf courses in the county and some just outside the county. There are now a total of 24 home and away matches during the year starting in March and finishing in October. Regardless of whether you attend the Tuesday morning roll ups and providing you are over 55, you would be most welcome to put your name forward to play for the team. Team sheets are posted on the Seniors notice board well in advance of the date of the matches. There is a meal after each match and the dress code is “smart/casual” for all home matches but we comply with the relevant dress code when visiting away clubs. The home matches are also a good revenue stream for the golf club and we would like to continue with them for many years to come but they will only continue with your support. Please support your Seniors Section of Boston Golf Club.
If you wish to join the Seniors section you will be made most welcome and it is an opportunity to meet and play with other seniors members and maybe form some new golfing friendships.
May I wish you all a very enjoyable golfing year for 2018.
Best Regards
Stuart Haywood

SENIOR CAPTAINS CHARITY
My charity for this year is The Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance, based at RAF Waddington covering the whole of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. They are totally funded by charitable donations, receiving no NHS or government help and need approx £4million to operate throughout the year. Since 1994 public donations have helped them respond to over 19,000 life threatening missions throughout the area and I personally have had experience of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance expertise who helped save my life. They average 3 missions every day and this will rise to 5 missions a day when 24 hr operation starts later this year. This extension of operating time will save more lives in our area, it could be yours, a member of your family or a close friend whose life they help save. The life saving equipment carried is very advanced and the crew is made up of consultants/doctors and paramedics as well as the pilots. Please help save lives by supporting my charity. Collection tins are on the bar in the clubhouse and any contribution would be most grateful. The photograph shows my wife Joanne and myself with the crew and helicopter when we were invited to visit them on Saturday 14th July 2018. |
